Cardinal O’Hara remains perfect in league play

Cara Degnan, Nina Ji and the doubles teams of Mackenzie Gardler and Caroline Lynch and Erin Hutchinson and Jessica Dougherty remained undefeated in Catholic League play as the Cardinal O’Hara girls tennis team topped John W. Hallahan, 4-1, Tuesday.
Gardler and Lynch dropped just one game at first doubles, while Hutchinson and Dougherty did not lose a game at second doubles for the Lions (5-2, 4-0). Cara Degan pulled out a 6-2, 6-2 triumph to remain unbeaten at second singles.
In the Del Val League:

Academy Park 5, Chichester 0 >> Freshman Rajah Azor won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, to improve her record to 5-2 at third singles to lead the Knights over the Eagles.
Breanne Reid and Vickie Outland also won in straight sets at first and second singles, respectively for the Knights (3-4, 3-0).
Penn Wood 5, Chester 0 >> Ixhelle Ortiz, Edna Bonsu and Sallay Thollie all won in straight sets to lead the Patriots (1-2 overall and league) to their first win of the season.
In the Central League:
Garnet Valley 7, Springfield 0 >> Sophia Smith and Anna Quintero did not lose a game at second and third singles, respectively. Catherine Cal and Isabelle Stripling, and Tori Husain and Grace Jordan did the same at first and fourth doubles, respectively.

Radnor 7, Haverford 0 >> The Raiders won all but four games.  Kanon Ciarrocchi (second singles), Grace Moore and Lucy Hederick (first doubles), Sasha Smolyansky and Claire Burton (third doubles), and Gillian Carney and Grace Frigerio (fourth doubles) won their respective matches without dropping a game.
In nonleague action:
Agnes Irwin 5, Friends’ Central 2 >> The Owls swept the doubles to beat the Phoenix. Carlin Sullivan and Rachel Mashek needed a 13-11 pro-set victory in the third set to take second doubles. Kayla Neary was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at first singles for AIS.
Notre Dame 3, Germantown Friends 2 >> Jen Fay and Kate Willis won a tough, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 decision at second doubles to keep the Irish (3-0) undefeated. Caroline Mackay was a 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 winner at second singles.
Barrack Hebrew 5, Kimberton 0 >> The Cougars opened the Tri-County League with four eight-game pro-set victories without losing a game. Talia Rankin, Janie Hershman and Deborah Spivak swept the singles.
