Delco Roundup: McCann’s OT goal leads Bonner-Prendie to win

Bridie McCann was in the right place at the right time for Bonner-Prendergast on Monday.

McCann scored 7:13 into overtime to give the Pandas a 2-1 nonleague victory over Sacred Heart.

Emily Schlegel made two defensive saves for Sacred Heart. Meilyn Frank also stood out on defense for the Lions, while Kathryn Gallagher converted a pass from Kyra Santora in the first quarter to give Sacred Heart a 1-0 lead.

MBAP scored in the second quarter to tie the game.

In other nonleague action:

Sun Valley 6, Academy Park 1 >> Melana Timmes scored twice, and Danielle Gavlishin added two assists for the Vangaurds. Riley Basht, Julia DiNicola, Lana Buerklin and Gianna Furlong also scored for Sun Valley.

Haverford 1, Council Rock South 0 >> The Golden Hawks dominated play in the first half but the Fords found the back of the cage in the second.

Senior Ella VanLuvender sent a hard pass from the top of the circle to the left post that junior Morgan Elliot put home.  Maura Quaile led the way on offense while senior Emma Taylor sparked the defense.  Goalie Kailyn Distler made 13 saves to post the shutout for the Fords (3-3).

Girls Soccer

Hope Scolis and Carly Coleman scored three minutes apart in the second half to pace Cardinal O’Hara to a 2-0 victory over Conwell-Egan.

Scolis scored in the 35th minute in the second half, and Coleman tallied in the 38th minute. Natalia Capaccio turned back three shots to post the clean sheet.

Girls Tennis

Cardinal O’Hara lost a total of five games in a 5-0 Catholic League victory over Little Flower.

Samma Zahran, Theresa Stolarczyk and Sophia Bora all won at singles, 6-0, 6-0. Jordan Graney and Kayleight DellaVecchio did the same at first doubles for the Lions (6-1, 3-1).

In the Central League:

Strath Haven 7, Marple Newtown 0 >> The Panthers dropped just one game in a sweep of the singles. Calli Sophocles and Emma Olenik won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles. Hannah Rappaport and Emily Shor, Emily Lin and Claire Lowry and Anne Myers-Maloney and Dania Maqbool took the other three doubles matches 6-0, 6-0.

Strath Haven improved to 11-2 overall and 9-1 in the Central League.

In nonleague action:

Academy Park 5, Norristown 0 >> Chanel Geogaghan, Shaniya Robinson and Faith Larkin swept the singles in straight sets to keep the Knights (6-1, 1-0 Del Val) undefeated.

Isa Osage and Sanaa Rogers won 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles for the Knights (6-0, 1-0 Del Val).

Golf

Tyler Debusschere carded a 3-over par 38 and Jackson Voshell added a 4-over 39 as Strath Haven topped Haverford and Harriton in a tight tri-match at the 1912 Club.

Strath Haven finished with a team score of 203, followed by Haverford at 207 and Harriton at 215.

Grace Smith pitched in with a 41 for the Panthers. Jack Ebert carded a 40 and Pierce Murphy and Matthew Braunlich both shot 41 for Haverford. Zach Sandler had a 41 for the Rams.
