Sacred Heart’s No. 2 doubles team of Lindsey Dowd and Mary Dooner made adjustments when they needed to, winning a three-setter to pace the Lions to a 4-1 win over St. Basil Wednesday.
Dooner tightened up her serve and worked the return game to earn a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory. Emily Robinson and Caroline Lewers notched singles victories for Sacred Heart (3-5 overall and in the Catholic Academies League).
In the Central League:
Upper Darby 5, Springfield 2 >> Christina Gian and Lee Trinh survived a first-set loss to Lily Claire and Annie Goyer to claim the first doubles match for Upper Darby, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Emily Gian and Meilin Zhao, the latter via a tiebreak, won singles matches for the Royals (6-4, 3-2).
Rachel Smith won at first singles for Springfield, while Katie Carr and Sam DeStefano were victorious at third doubles in a tiebreaker.
In the Ches-Mont League:
West Chester East 7, Sun Valley 0 >> The Vanguards’ first doubles pairing of Aislynn Catka and Janice Park managed to win two games in the first set, the closest Sun Valley came to taking a point away from the Vikings.
