Mercury Roundup (Sept. 30): Boyertown wins five-setter over Spring-Ford

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Boyertown 3, Spring-Ford 2

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bears got extended to five sets by the Rams before pulling out the PAC Liberty victory. Set scores were 25-13, 17-25, 22-25, 25-19 and 17-15.

Boyertown’s statistical stars were Adrianna Derstine (25 kills, 20 digs), Allie Pioli (10 kills, 20 digs), Emma Smith (25 digs), Grace Rinehimer (6 digs, 46 assists), Carly Little (6 kills, 4 aces), Kyra Neiswender (12 digs) and Chloe Wolfe (4 kills, 3 digs).

Leading the way for Spring-Ford were Ally Plitnick (43 assists). Sara Fritzinger (18 kills), Camryn Elsner (23 digs). Katie Gentilotti (21 digs), Kylie Michal (9 kills, 3 blocks) and Lauren Angelucci (10 kills).

Twin Valley 3, Daniel Boone 0

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders swept the Blazers by set scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-18.

Aubrey Hunt had three kills and 12 digs for Boone. Ashley Kriebel had four kills and 11 digs and Trinity Moyer had three kills and 13 digs.

FIELD HOCKEY

Methacton 2, Pope John Paul II 1

HIGHLIGHTS: Bayla Plower scored goals in each half to lift the Warriors over the Golden Panthers in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Cate Mink had the lone goal for PJP.

HIGHLIGHTS: Takoda Wells scored twice to key the Indians’ win over the Wildcats in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Lynnsi Joyce made four stops in goal to get the clean sheet for UP.

HIGHLIGHTS: The Panthers had a rather unique outcome in their nine-hole match with Jenkintown, the teams tied 235-235.

Scoring for Perkiomen (5-0-1) were August Berndtsson 43, Pierce Laessig 45, Zach Glavin 46, Joe Moletteiere 49 and Lilly Hetrick 52.

Wednesday’s Match

Hill School 188, Spring-Ford 194

At Turtle Creek G.C. (par-36)

Hill School (188): Lucas Steinmetz 37, Thomas Beaudoin 37, Terry Shao 37, Will Lesko 38, Nick Rafetto 39.

Highlights: Hill gave the Rams their first loss of the season Wednesday at Turtle Creek. Thomas ‘Boom Boom’ Beaudoin drove the green on the 353-yard par-four fourth hole, and Terry Shao stuck his tee shot six inches from the hole on the par-three third hole to highlight the best shots for Hill in the win.

BOYS WATER POLO

Wednesday’s Match

Germantown Ac. 15, Hill School 8

HIGHLIGHTS: A trio of 10th graders did the scoring for the Blues in their loss to the Patriots.

Shunji Lewandowski led the way with four goals while RJ Jordan added a hat trick. Erick Sun rounded out the Hill’s offensive output.
